If you’ve delved into some of the fun included in the VBS 2015 Kids Field Kit, the learner piece created for each kid in your VBS, you know that one of the fun things about it is that the map/game board and map markers included will allow kids to continue to experience Journey Off the Map™ long after VBS is over. The map includes games kids can play with siblings, friends, and neighbor, all the while being reminded of what they learned at VBS, and being able to share it with others!
But we wanted to add a little extra fun and adventure to this Journey Off the Map, so we added an element that lets kids further personalize their map markers, the VBS 2015 Blank Map Markers.
1. Blank map markers make a great craft project. Provide kids with a set of map markers, colored pencils, crayons, or markers, stickers, and any other art supplies and let them go to town creating whatever they want. They can make a map marker that describes them, or one that reminds them of something they learned that week at VBS. The possibilities are endless!
2. Map markers are limited edition. Every kid will have the exact same map markers in her field kit, but the ones kids make will be one of a kind. Kids can trade, share, and play with personalized map markers.
3. Map markers are easy to use. Whether they’re a craft project, a Bible study activity, or a gift you send home with kids, map markers and the materials to decorate them are easy to pull together and will last kids a long time after VBS is over. A portion of the Journey Off the Map Theme Stickers are even made to fit on the blank map markers so they’re quick and easy to decorate.
4. Map markers are great reminders. In the Old Testament, we often see Israelites set up reminders and memorials to remember what God has done. These markers, however small and impermanent, can help kids remember what God has done in their lives during VBS and what a trustworthy Guide He is in their lives overall.
